How it Started
Bibles and BBQ Ministries was founded by Jon Harris and his wife, Dana. Anyone who knows Jon knows he has a passion for serving others—especially through his love of smoked barbecue.
In 2024, Jon began asking how he and Dana could use that passion to serve their community in a meaningful way. After much thought and prayer, they felt called to create a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need. Their vision was to partner with local shelters, sober living homes, and community organizations throughout the Denver Metro and North Front Range areas to provide free barbecue meals to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
The mission of Bibles and BBQ Ministries goes beyond simply sharing a meal. Inspired by the message in John 15:12—“Love each other as I have loved you”—the ministry strives to show genuine care, kindness, and respect to everyone they serve. While the organization is rooted in the Harris family’s Christian faith, their goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment for people of all backgrounds.
Through serving meals, offering encouragement and prayer for those who request it, providing Bibles to anyone who would like one, and building meaningful relationships, Jon and Dana hope to bring comfort, connection, and hope to those in their community.
